REFLECTIONS,
June 2002 "The Power of the Mind"
You can accomplish anything by using your mind to plan, focus, and implement strategy.
Through meditation, you have access to one of the most powerful and result oriented medicines...the ability of the mind to control EVERY VITAL FUNCTION in your body, including the ability to fight disease.
Mental illness has roots in unhealthy thinking patterns. Don't believe me? Try meditating for six months and marvel at the results!
Can Christians meditate? Better question, can Christians use their minds? Scripture says, "Think on these things..."
How do you meditate? The main objective is think about nothing. Harness your mind and control all of those random thoughts that hit at 100 mph. Think about your breathing pattern...in...out...in...out...for
about ten minutes. You have now successfully meditated.
Say you can't meditate? You are therefore saying "I have no control whatsoever over what I think and how long I think it." Is this true?
The mind is the most neglected part of the human body. How many people actually READ books these days?
When was the last time you made your own decisions without relying on what other people told you that you had to do or SHOULD do?
What is the connection between disease and the mind? Listen to the tape/CD set put out by Nightingale Conant by Dr. Joan Borysenko (a Harvard trained medical scientist and expert in the field of psychology) entitled, "The Power of the Mind to Heal."
